Community Organizing

RSIA Update

September 1973

The Rosedale-Skinker Improvement Association will have a general membership meeting on September 25, 7:30 P.M., at Grace Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall. General meetings were suspended for the summer; however, the executive committee met several times to revise the By-Laws and to plan agenda to be presented at forthcoming general meetings.

The agenda of this meeting will consist of the following items.

First, revised By-Laws will be presented for discussion and vote.

Secondly, the membership will decide whether to change the name of the organization.

If there is to be a change, the new name will be chosen at this meeting.

A third discussion and vote will concern changing the traffic patterns on the 6000 and 6100 blocks of Washington, Westminster, Kingsbury and McPherson Avenues.

Another item on the agenda will be the selection of a new organization emblem from entries in a neighborhood-wide contest.

The contest will be announced by circular to residents of Rosedale-Skinker organization’s area.

Residents are invited to bring an original emblem design to the meeting.

All designs will be posted on a bulletin board about 15 minutes before the meeting so that members can decide which emblem they prefer.

The emblem must include the present name of the organization and be submitted on approxmately 5” square paper.

Relevance and simplicity of design should be considered by all contestants.

The designer of the winning emblem will receive $10.00.

The three final items of business will include discussion of a tree planting project, the initiation of a membership drive and endorsement of the Heritage St. Louis project in the area.

All residents of the area bounded by the west side of Des Peres, the east side of Skinker, the north side of the Forest Park Parkway and the south side of Delmar are automatically members of the association and are urged to attend this meeting.

Refreshments will be served.
