Our branch of Futon Express has been in the Loop for 14 years, with the last 2 at the current location at 6254 Delmar, at the corner of Eastgate and Delmar.
This store is part of a local chain with 5 other locations. Besides futons, Futon Express sells platform beds, bean bag chairs, foof chairs, dressers, nightstands, coffee tables, and bunkbeds, as well as mattresses, covers, and parts. Mattresses are custom made for the company by one supplier, while 8 different suppliers are used for the futon lines. Over 250 covers are available and current futon offerings are in the 40 range.
The company expects to add barstools and other furnishings to its current line in the future.
The store on Delmar boasts the broadest customer base, serving students and non-students alike for uses that go beyond primary homes and apartments to vacation homes and offices.
The customer diversity is seen by management as the primary advantage of the Delmar location, with parking being the only downside. Hours are 11 – 8 M – F; 11 – 7 Sat; & 12 – 6 Sunday, 721-1948.
