The 1976-77 Division of Recreation's Fall, Winter, Spring Programs officially began on Monday, October 11, 1976 with the opening of 13 Recreation Centers, 7 swimming sites, and approximately 25 outposts.

SDCC Board Members approved the plan, originated by local residents, to close Grand Drive in Forest Park between DeBaliviere and Skinker and return the land to park use.
The Tot Lot, at Pershing and Des Peres, won second prize in a contest sponsored by the St. Louis Beautification Commission.

The Youth Activities Committee of St. Roch's Church met with Mr. Louis Buckowitz, St. Louis Park Commissioner, to initiate plans to close Grand Drive in Forest Park to traffic and return it to park use by residents of the neighborhood.
