Missourians Made Their Voices Heard in Midterm Elections

Missourians voted November 3 on reproductive rights, citizen initiatives, congressional representation, taxation and local government.

Voters rejected Amendments 3 and 7 and Proposition A, thus preserving reproductive freedom protections, rejecting a proposed state investment fund and keeping the existing congressional district map.

Voters passed Amendment 6, thereby strengthening protections for voter-approved initiatives by requiring an 80 percent legislative supermajority to amend initiative-passed laws or place changes to voter-approved constitutional amendments on the ballot.

And they narrowly passed Amendment 8, giving county sheriffs constitutional protection and making the attorney general the sole authority to initiate their removal.

And yes, the image above is an accurate tally of the vote in Ward 10.

A Hilton In the Loop – Actually Two

Joe Edwards sold his iconic Moonrise Hotel and Magic Mini Golf to local investors, who intend to make cosmetic upgrades before joining the flagship Hilton brand, according to local news reports and the most recent print edition of The Times of Skinker DeBaliviere.

Mr. Edwards told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he chose the buyers personally and will stay involved with the properties – that includes keeping his vast collection of space memorabilia on full display.

The Moonrise Hilton will join another Hilton property, Hiton Tru, two blocks west. Both locations are owned by the same local investment group.

For more information, see First Alert 4.
