Historical November 1979 report or notice. Original dates, prices, contacts and program details describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

The big news in Parkview is the approaching publication of Urban Oasis, 75 Years in Parkview, A Saint Louis Private Place. The book has been almost a year in the making and includes the social and architectural history of Parkview. Present and former long-time residents lent marvelous old photographs for the book, with Virginia Leguey-Feilleux supplying sketches of particular houses and architectural details. In the back of the book you’ll find a house by house list of residents from the beginning right up to 1979. The text is by Jean F. Eberle, former editor of The Paper, and Judy P. Little, of the Historic District Committee.

The Parkview Agents and Central West End Savings and Loan will give a “launching” party for Urban Oasis, Saturday, November 10, from 2 to 4 pm at the Central West End Savings and Loan offices on DeBaliviere. The first distribution of the book will be for neighborhood residents and former residents at a special price, $9.95 plus tax. After January 1 the price will be $11.95. Anyone who wants a copy of Urban Oasis can send a check for $10.95 postpaid to Parkview Agents, Box 24249, University City, Missouri 63130. Copies will be available at $10.35, including sales tax, at Central West End Savings and Loan.
