Apollo Reopens, Recloses, Reopens, Recloses

February 1973

The Apollo Theatre at 327 DeBaliviere was reopened by the National Cinema Corporation and was almost immediately closed by 7th District police on Friday, January 12. On Saturday, the 13th, the Apollo management tried again to open, but was again closed. The theatre billed itself as an exhibitor of “adult” movies in its newspaper advertising; the police judged the movies being shown to be pornographic.
