Long Acres Farm and the family of Jimmy Schneider have been fixtures at the Market in the Loop for many years.
They bring fresh fruits and vegetables to their booth every Thursday-Friday-Saturday from 8:30-5:00 throughout the year.
Now they have company on Saturday mornings, as the Midtown Farmers Market moves to the great market in the loop location on Delmar. Every Saturday morning this summer, you can look for organic and free range choices and items from nearby farms that will excite your family.
Some of the items are Free-Range Eggs; Award Winning Goat Cheeses; 100% Organic Grass Fed Beef, Missouri Rainbow Trout; Piedmontese All Cuts Natural Beef, Woodland and Pasture Raised Pork, Poultry and Eggs, and more. Farms represented are Baetje Farms, Biver Organic Farm, Buila Family Farm, Elixir Organic Farm, Lily Lane Farms, Riverbend Roots Farm, Rockbridge Trout Farm, Silent Oaks Farm, Southern Breeze Farm, Sugar Creek Piedmotese, Windy Lake Farm.
The names alone make your mouth water!
There are also artisan specialities such as Black Bear Bakery— Red Fox Bakery Little Dipper Chocolate—Del Carmen Foods- -Stringbean Coffee—-Traveling Tea, and much more. Neighbor Gale Fitzpatrick emailed a report on her recent visit to the market: “It was wonderful.
In recent years we’ve been going to Tower Grove and Kirkwood to get local produce.
I was so happy to see what has been done to the market .It’s more than double in size. It’s still early in the season for local produce. But, there were mushrooms, lettuce, root vegetables AND strawberries from Ill. Fresh eggs, meats, String bean coffee (Carl- yum ), Red Fox bakery, to mention a few. Del Carmen black beans and black bean soup is fantastic – we get them at the Maplewood market. And I’m ready for Twilight Tuesdays with Baetje Farms cheese (Dark Chocolate Raspberry this week).”
