Skinker-DeBaliviere has a mascot: our very own Skink!

A skink is a type of lizard native to Missouri and fortunately shares the name of our neighborhood.

The Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council (SDCC)’s Art Committee hosted a workshop at Andy Cross’ art studio for children of our neighborhood to help create the Skink on June 15th.

They reused colorful plastic bags, mesh fruit bags and large chip bags by attaching them to a metal form created by Jenny Murphy of Perennial STL..

The Skink made its debut Wednesday, August 6th at our Skinker-DeBaliviere National Night Out celebration.

It sits atop one of the kiosks at Four Corners watching over the children who visit the playground. Make sure you stop to check it out! Thanks to Tim Woodcock (6100 Westminster) of the SDCC Art Committee, Jenny Murphy of Perennial STL, Andy Cross (6000 McPherson) for his workshop and repainting the kiosk and bench and Michael Holohan (6100 Westminster) for helping to assemble the remaining parts of the Skink.
