Historical April–May 2011 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.
A centennial history of St. Roch Parish is being written by parishioner Larry Murray and his committee.
A committee is also working on gathering photos from the past to be included in this new book.
The goal is to have the book printed in time for the official celebration on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
This photo was apparently taken at the groundbreaking for the gym addition to the school.
The familiar face of Father Peet is front and center.
In 1911, just 3 years after the first homes were located in the neighborhood, a Catholic parish was formed.
The church originally held services at 6008 Kingsbury (current home of the Skinker-DeBaliviere Community council).
The committee has also found a photograph of an Easter Service held in that location.
The committee is especially requesting St. Roch kindergarten and/or 8th grade class pictures prior to 1970. Email Arline Webb at almbw2002@ yahoo.com or Lawrence Murray at stjude1@att.net.
