“Love, exciting and new, come aboard, we’re expecting you.
The Love Boat, soon will be making another run…” those are the words to the old hit show them song, or something like that, anyway. And they have been running through the heads of some of the Homecoming committee members this summer.
As the 2nd Annual SDCC Homecoming approaches, it is time to announce that the theme for this wacky fun-raising event this year is “The Love Boat”! So prepare yourself for another fun evening with old and new neighbors, wanna be neighbors, old and new friends, and people who just like a good party, and mark your calendar now!
The party takes place Saturday, September 25th at Crossroads College Prep School from 7:00 to 11:30. Tickets are $40 per person. Included in the activities for the evening will be awards for best outfit (last years winners will be hard to beat – Marj Weir and Jamie Kenyon).
As a guide for your planning, think creative formal or creative cruise wear. And be warned, some folks were very imaginative last year! Party goers dug out old prom dresses, letter jackets, bridesmaid dresses, and hit the resale shops around town.
The competition will likely be more intense and probably a bit more on the silly side.
The committee is also hoping to have a silent auction featuring items from some of our neighbors and local businesses.
There will be music and dancing all night, a cash bar, and the election of a new Homecoming King and Queen (although the current King and Queen, Andy Cross and Rachel Boxdorfer are considering giving it a second run).
The election of the court is entertaining in itself – so consider running or nominate a good sport you know in the neighborhood.
All proceeds from the evening will benefit Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council. Tickets will be available for sale through the Skinker DeBaliviere office and committee members. For more information, to purchase tickets, or to donate an item for the silent auction, call the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council office at 314-862-5122.
