The holidays are inching closer, and I hope everyone is enjoying the prelude, including our gloriousas-usual neighborhood Halloween celebration. Thanks to Art Santen for his wonderful organizing and to our judges and photographer, King Schoenfeld, who braves the St. Roch gymnasium every year to capture a photo of the winners. Our hearty congratulations to the parents-to-be on the 5900 block of DeGiverville, which is experiencing a baby boom. Three resident couples, Sara Howard and Tony Wyche, April and Rob Fulstone, and Maggie and Matt Peters, are expecting babies in the spring. And if you’re counting, that’s not three babies, but four.
The Fulstones are expecting twins. That gives us 4 more Halloweeners next year! 6100 Kingsbury residents Roy Bell and Pat McLafferty are happy to announce the marriage of one of their two lovely daughters. Maureen was married at St. Roch’s to Paul Werner. Maureen works as an academic advisor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, while Paul works at DeSales Community Housing Corporation, which, like our own Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council, has been working to preserve a historic neighborhood for more than 30 years. Maureen and Paul are dedicated city dwellers, and like Pat and Roy, are renovating a house for themselves . Theirs is in the McKinley Hts. Neighborhood. Dad was hard at work replumbing their new abode to be ready when they returned from their honeymoon!
