Historical April–May 2003 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

The 2003 St. Louis Earth Day theme is “Passport to a Healthy Planet” with a focus on the health of both our planet and ourselves.

The St. Louis Earth Day Festival will be on Sunday, April 27th, 2003, 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on and around the Muny grounds in Forest Park.

The festival will feature 5 eco-villages which highlight this year’s theme, including a “Clean Air”, “Clean Water”, “Healthy Land”, “Healthy Self”, and an “Art” village.

In addition, an intergenerational performance arts area will feature both a children’s performance troupe stage and an elders’storytelling theatre. Festival attendance is free. Three service projects in Forest Park also on Sunday, April 27th, will provide volunteers with the opportunity spend a few hours as eco-stewards, either planting trees, sowing wildflowers, or picking up trash.

An Earth Day Run for the Rivers the morning of the festival benefits four local non-profits working on clean water and healthy rivers. Run registration is $12 in advance. For more information, check out the St. Louis Earth Day website at www.stlouisearthday.org or call Cheri Hutchings at (314) 973-0322 or (618) 398-1635.
