Kiosk Summer Projects(英文)

1990年6月

此内容暂无简体中文译文,以下为英文原文。

Pepper, a Dalmatian, looking out a car window.

Historical June 1990 report or notice. Original dates, prices and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

The fourth annual Pet Picture Contest will kick off right after the 4th of July holiday.

So bring in pictures of your dog, cat, gerbil, or canary! (A canary did win two years ago.) The pictures will be exhibited on a bulletin board on the window of the Kiosk and, according to tradition, dog trainer Georgi Fox and veterinarian Dr. Steve Brammeier will pick the winners. Categories are: Best Picture of a Species; Funniest of a Species; and Best Looking of a Species.

A new category this year is Best 100 Word essay about your pet, one you have had or one you would like to have.

The winners will be announced in August and the prizes, gift certificates from neighborhood businesses, will be handed out during Art Exposed in October.

If you have any questions about the contest, ask at the Kiosk. Bring in your pet pictures anytime from now until the 5th of July. Come to the Kiosk and register for the St. Louis Public Library summer reading club. Read 15 books from the library before September 1, 1990 to qualify. Children who are not old enough to read may become club members if books are read to them. Keep a list of completed books in your official summer reading club folder and bring the folder with you each time you return books to have the list verified by the librarian. Certificates will be given at the location where you register. Children, preschool through 3rd grade, who read or listen to 75 books, or those 4th grade and up who read 40 books during the summer months will receive an invitation to a Super Readers’ Party at the central library in September.

The Kiosk will sponsor a party also, at the Skinker-DeBaliviere council headquarters. Any child who reads at least 15 books is invited.

There will be refreshments, entertainment, door prizes, and certificates. Ramona Clark, who has been working part time at the Kiosk, is leaving with our thanks for a job well done. Consequently there is a part time job available, 10 hours a week for the minimum wage for persons 16 years and older. Call 726-3653 to apply.
