THE TIMES is currently planning a special project to preserve the history of our neighborhood by recording its oral history. Marj Weir and Jo Ann Vatcha are seeking participants for three upcoming small group meetings to be facilitated and recorded by Missouri Historical Society staff Jody Sewell.
The meetings will be held during February and March, 2008. THE TIMES has begun working with the Missouri Historical Society on this exciting oral history project.
An edited version of recorded interviews and small group sessions will be put on DVD for distribution with our updated history of the neighborhood, to be published this year, in time for the Centennial Celebration on October 11. • “Strategies for Stabilizing and Strenghening the Neighborhood” (e.g. TIMES, Delmar Committee, Community Garden, Arts Council, Residential Service, Historic District, etc.) • “Community Gatherings” (e.g. Art Fair/House Tour, block parties, Dinner Theatre, New Neighbors Parties) • “The Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council” (e.g. residents and other participants, leadership, Washington University, St. Roch, etc.). Individuals who wish to be considered for participation in one of the meetings should contact Marj Weir at 863-5188, email weir.marj@ charter.net or Jo Ann Vatcha at 726-6974, email jvatcha@gmail.com.
In addition, Lana Stein is scheduling individual interviews of long-time residents and prominent neighbors.
