Historical November 1988 report or notice. Original dates, prices and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

It is a pleasure to announce the appointment of two new members to our Board. John Bordeaux, of Freewheelin’, and Pat Cantwell, of Cancorp, Inc. were unanimously appointed at our most recent Board meeting. Pat will head up the membership committee, while John will be heading up our hospitality arm.

In other words, he’ll be arranging our meals and all the other details for our monthly meetings.

A warm welcome to both John and Pat!

Our October general meeting was held on October 18 at the Marlboro Room. Anne Horner, CPA, spoke about “Tax Reform and the Small Business:’ She pointed out some of the pitfalls of waiting until year end to see your CPA.

Some of the new rules may substantially increase your tax liability.

It is best to be prepared.

A service provided by Ms. Horner, as well as other CPA’s, can help the small business owner “get a handle on” his or her tax liability each month. You provide minimal monthly information about receipts and disbursements to your advisor.

For a modest monthly fee, you will receive monthly statements which assist you in making business decisions and tax planning.

Since your records are computerized, the monthly fee normally includes your tax return.

For those of you with questions, Ms. Horner can be reached at 862-0666.

Our next general meeting is tentatively scheduled for November 10th, at the Police Station.

It will be a breakfast catered by Burger King. We’ll look forward to hearing all about the Super Stations! Progress is being made in completing our name change from Skinker DeBaliviere Business Association to City West Business Association.

We hope to have our new logo and stationery soon. Members can expect to be billed in December for their 1989 dues.

All new members are most welcome!

Our membership is growing—up nearly 34% this year! Hopefully each member will recruit one new member for the new year and we’ll double our ranks!

We are hoping to make the “Times” more available to areas east of DeBaliviere.

We could use some volunteers to drop off copies at a few locations once a month. Call me at 367-3400 if you can help. Also, we hope to do some feature articles on various businesses who are members of City West Business Association. Contact me to get your business in the “Times”!
