Beginning Saturday, Sept. 18, the Des Peres Branch Library has been getting a new face. Materials have been donated by the City Beautification Commission, and the work is being done by neighborhood young people under the direction of Dale Poertner, librarian working with young adults.
Bricks are being laid in the space northwest of the doorway and between the sidewalk and pavement along Des Peres and Kingsbury. The space northeast of the doorway is to be enclosed with railway ties and sodded. When the job is done the building (and the corner) will have a whole new look.
The Rosedale-Skinker Improvement Association has been helping to get the young workers. If the project isn’t completed by the time this notice is out, here is a chance to have fun working with others and at the same time learn something about building a patio and sodding lawns. Not to mention helping to spruce up the neighborhood!
