Donnaland Vintage Variety is a new shop in the Pageant building, located at 6161 Delmar. Donna Knott, owner for 22 years of the hugely successful Hullabaloo store, has now sold the Hullabaloo business to concentrate on the new shop, which she owns in partnership with Kay Guth, former owner of Pixie 9, a shop on Cherokee Antique Row.
The new venture builds on Donna’s expertise as quite possibly the largest wholesaler of “dead stock” meaning never-used items from warehouses and stores all over the world. Special favorites are the vintage clothing from the 50’s to the 80’s.
She also features Halloween costumes, which will soon be in evidence on Delmar. Donna expects Pirates of the Caribbean to be especially big this fall, along with perennial favorites, glamorous Hollywood icons, such as Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.
She even has 80’s costumes with Madonna looks for women and mullet wigs for the guys. For more information, go to www.donnaland.net.
In addition to the costumes and vintage clothing, there is vintage costume jewelry, and a whole display of Japanese toys, like “AstroBoys,” robots, and more.
To complement that, Donna also sells new items like candy cigarettes. Donna has been well known in the St. Louis community for her marketing savvy and expects to put it to good use helping generate more business in the Delmar Loop around the Pageant. You’ll see even more activity every last Saturday of the month, when they participate in a sidewalk sale, along with live music and record spin, in front of the shops around in Pageant, including FiFi’s, Gabby’s, Alice’s, TNT Designs, and Diversity Gallery.
