Rashad Berry Leaving Pulaski

Summer 2013

Historical Summer 2013 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

A big surprise at Pulaski Bank was the recent announcement that Rashad Berry would be leaving the bank to move to the Washington DC area with his wife Leigh, following their marriage in November. Rashad began work for then Central West End Savings and Loan in 1997 when he was just seventeen and a junior at Soldan High School. Rashad remembers walking from school to the bank for work and then how, when he graduated, being told he could work there full-time. Neighbors actually started the CWE S&L, which opened in 1979, to address the lack of financing in the neighborhood. Rashad has been a mainstay of this bank for 16 of its 34 years on DeBaliviere, quite a remarkable tenure. Bank Manager Shelly Conley stated: “Rashad has been such a dedicated member of our staff here at Pulaski Bank.

He exemplifies what customer service truly means.

He has seen many people through both trying and happy times.

While we will miss him greatly, we wish him luck on his future endeavors.” Rashad remembers all those neighbors, too, and said, “the customers are the ones I’ll miss the most, and I’ve really enjoyed being part of their lives.

If I missed saying goodbye, you can reach me at berry0572@yahoo.com.” Many, many Skinker-DeBaliviere neighbors will also miss Rashad’s warmth and friendliness, as well as his efficiency, and wish him and his wife all the best on their new adventure in life in DC.
