On Saturday, May 21, neighbors, local school children, parents and grandparents celebrated an afternoon of soccer fun at Lucier Park to celebrate the newly improved soccer field. Beautiful regulation goals and nets have been installed in Lucier Park, the field was resized and chalked, and new shrubs and plants are blossoming. Soccer Day started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, relays, and soccer games. Kids won prizes, and everybody in attendance enjoyed free food and drinks. Over 95 hot dogs were served! Soccer Day was sponsored by Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council, St. Roch School, and Crossroads School.

The event was organized by Ligaya Figueras. Goals were donated by QuikGoal through a generous grant from the US Soccer Foundation. Field upgrades were provided by the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry, and prizes were donated by Joe Clarke Soccer Camps and Soccer Master.
