Bill Christman has had his art studio at Four Corners (6014 Kingsbury) for decades.
During this time, he has participated in Art Exposed, a very popular neighborhood event that included tours of art studios and the Edible Art competition.
He has participated in our movie showings, supervised art projects for teens, and in other neighborhood happenings.
He is known for his very original and decorative signs and is highly respected in the St. Louis arts community. Recently, he designed a cafe and exhibit space at the City Museum that is well utilized. Christman now has a new notion — one centered in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighbor hood.
He would like to use his studio as a cafe, serving coffee and pastry in the morning, soup and sandwiches at lunch, and ice cream sundaes and some drinks, including alcoholic drinks, after five.
The cafe would be closed on Sunday and would close at 11pm on days it was open.
He is also using the adjacent lots he owns to fashion a sculpture garden.
In order for Christman to accomplish his objectives, he would need to obtain several variances and some permits.
He will proceed if he feels the neighborhood is supportive of his idea.
