On Tuesday, August 1, residents and friends from throughout the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood will gather at Four Corners Park to observe National Night Out.
We will celebrate our successes, meet and greet friends old and new, share some good refreshments, participate in new and different activities, and enjoy the good music and company offered by John Thomas and Friends on the Big Red Stage.
There will be festivities celebrating the construction of the new, long-awaited playground for tots immediately adjacent to Four Corners.
There will be a community volunteer fair where residents can learn about services available locally and about opportunities for them to participate as volunteers in those services.
There will be face painting and games of chance.
There will be lots of refreshments FOR SALE…this party is a FUNDRAISER to support the activities of the Council in the neighborhood. Grace Methodist youth group provides children’s games with prizes to raise funds to support their activities. Block unit 59xx McPherson once again will hold their ice cream social, which pays for a number of activities on their block during the year.
There will be lots of information and plenty of excitement.
As always, there will also be room for those who want to bring their lawn chairs and listen to some great music provided by our own John Thomas and friends. Meanwhile, the 5800 block of DeGiverville, goes table-cloth formal with a full-blown block party for residents…good food, good fun, great time to socialize according to chief organizer Mr. Butler…give him a yell if you can lend a hand.
As we go to press, there is no news yet of any other individual block parties being planned. Keep your eyes open for a flyer and for further information… you can always call the Council office at 862-5122.
