Historical December 1978 notice or report. Dates, fees, benefits, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability and eligibility have not been established.
The St. Louis Christmas Carols Association, a tradition since 1911, organizes groups to go caroling in neighborhoods, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, etc. The association provides the leaders with identification, collection canisters and song sheets, as well as an impetus to organize: The money collected goes to help over 60 local charities, among them the Big Brothers Organization, the Boys Clubs, Central Institute for the Deaf, the Salvation Army, YMCA, YWCA, and several day care centers and nursery schools.
It is estimated that as many as 50,000 St. Louisans participate each year in this program. If you would like to share in this activity, contact the chairman for our area this year, Karen Kelsey, of the 600 block of Kingsbury. She asks anyone who is interested in organizing a small group of carolers for a block club or other group to call her at 726-2832.
