Letter to the Editor — Come Out, Join In, and Help

June 1978

I am not a person to write often, but I feel this has to be said.

I have lived in this neighborhood for eight years. I have seen some good things happen and some bad things happen. I often wondered how some of the changes happened. Then I came to realize that we all have a say in what goes on in our neighborhood.

You can only know what is happening by getting into the organizations in the neighborhood that help to make things happen.

So I say to all of you that are sitting home and complaining that you don’t like this, that, or the other: As long as you just sit home and don’t get out and get into things, no one will ever know what you think!

So come on out and join in and help. There are a number of active organizations in the neighborhood. I am sure you can fit into one or more.

Even if you are not officer material or don’t want to be an officer, everyone can be a good member by just coming to the meetings and being aware of what’s going on around you. So all you complainers quit complaining at home and come to some of the meetings where your complaining can be heard and acted upon. Come out, join in, and help.
