Paper Deluged with Poll Responses

November 1973

Last month The Paper polled its readers to see what they thought were the most pressing problems or issue facing our neighborhood. The poll question limited the problems to those which the Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council might be able to deal with effectively.

There were TWO responses.

Is anyone else out there?

We are grateful to our contributors and herewith print their responses in full.

‘ Pressing problems in our naborhood:

1. Widespread lack of pride and appreciation for a basically superior naborhood, in terms of the quality of its houses, transportation, parks, etc.

2. Lack of pride is shown by filthy alleys and filthy streets, unkempt houses and lawns, etc.

3. Over-congestion of people – often in violation of zoning.
