In the seventeenth century, when only the eastern fringes of the United States were populated, map makers were already at work, charting "those known parts in that unknowne worlde."
As many of our neighbors have already learned, Des Peres Branch has a new head librarian.
The Des Peres Library is attempting to have a showing of the complete film "Roots," by Alex Haley, if at least 10 adults (over 18) will agree to attend for six evenings.
First of all, Des Peres Branch will be feeling sad during April because we will be losing Phil Newbill.
March, we hope, will bring spring to the library; the weather has kept people indoors and book circulation down.
Two exhibitions now at the St. Louis Public Library are "Historic St. Louis Maps and Pictures" by St. Louis historian and artist Norbury L.
Des Peres Branch Library will have something for folks of all ages during the month of February.
