Dedicated volunteer Paul Kurtz is key to the spectacular flower show now on display at the parking lot at Westminster and Skinker. Hard to believe the space was once home to a Bonafide gas station.  Mr. Kurtz’s commitment to watering on a regular basis was made much easier thanks to the World Community Center generously letting him tap their water supply (pun intended.

“Some mornings it is hot as blazes and there he is watering away,” said one local resident. “Nothing seemed to deter him from his mission and thank goodness, look what we have to enjoy!”

Pedestrians and motorists alike have raved about the blooms of marigolds, gomphrena and celosia complementing the new native chokeberry bushes.

“Sure beats evergreens and bag worms,” said another passer-by.

Thanks to Mr. Kurtz and the volunteers who helped plant, mulch, mow and keep the trash picked up on the tree lawns around this City-owned parking lot.
