Joe Edwards To Work More Magic On Delmar

June 2001

Historical Summer 2001 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Joe Edwards has acquired new properties on Delmar. Edwards, successful entrepreneur and impresario, already is owner of Blueberry Hill, the Tivoli theatre, and the recently constructed concert hall, the Pageant.

In less than a year of operation, the Pageant has been very successful in drawing bookings and filling the house.

Now Edward turns his attention to the other side of Delmar, across from the Pageant.

He has purchased the Olivet M. B. Church which has been at its Delmar location for several decades.

The Church has long wanted to expand and has found a suitable location in North County where it has purchased 40 acres.

The church will not move until the end of July. Edwards is working with a number of philanthropic organizations and foundations to raise money so that the church building can be used as a nonprofit theatre, offering a venue to groups that have no permanent home.

He hopes to make this a genuine cultural attraction, using it for a children’s theater, dance groups, and other educational uses. Edwards said he was very excited about the possibilities of making it something new and filling a niche.
