On a hot June morning, ground was broken for the new MetroLink parking lot just to the west of the Delmar station on Rosedale.
This lot will hold over 300 cars and will have security.
The lot should be ready before our next issue appears.
This should relieve some of the congestion at the DeBaliviere lot and benefit our neighborhood as well as the area.
To further enhance ridership by pedestrians and drivers alike, Aldermen McGuire and Clay have committed funds for a traffic study and new signals. Thanks to funding from the State of Missouri and from BiState, a new planning effort on Delmar is beginning. University City and the City of St. Louis jointly applied for the state funds.
The Washington University School of Architecture will provide technical expertise.
The Commercial Development Committee and its chair, JoAnn Vatcha, will spearhead the effort.
The organizing meeting is set for Sept. 5.
The general goal is to attract businesses to the thoroughfare which will benefit our area and serve the needs of our residents and perhaps, to attract a major use to the area.
