We’ve wrapped up writing for our November-December issue and graphic designer Karen Hilmes is hard at work putting the final touches on the paper. It’s one of our most jam-packed issues in recent memory, and we’re excited!
We’ve got everything from community gardens to short-term rentals to a celebration of longtime neighborhood linchpin Lu Green.
For our cherished readers, here’s a sneak peek at one of the upcoming articles.
Election Day is November 3 but eligible St. Louis voters can already cast absentee ballots at the downtown Election Board office on 300 North Tucker Boulevard.
No-excuse early voting begins Tuesday October 20 at eight satellite locations, including Schlafly Library on 225 North Euclid Avenue. The deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot is October 21.
Voters will decide congressional and other races along with a series of ballot measures.
Bring a photo ID and remember: You don’t have to wait until Election Day!
Skinker-DeBaliviere neighbors were busy checking their security cameras and sharing information with one another and the police after a series of overnight break-ins and attempted break-ins in the neighborhood last weekend.
The good news: Police arrested 53-year-old Robert Lee Brown on Tuesday. He was charged yesterday with multiple counts of burglary, attempted burglary and theft.
The suspect allegedly targeted several homes in the early morning hours, damaging windows and screens and stealing belongings. Police say the incidents were part of a larger string of burglaries across St. Louis, including in the Soulard and Shaw neighborhoods.
Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word and kept an eye out for one another!
This weekend is your last chance to catch Romeo & Zooliet, the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s family-friendly comedy featuring animal puppets, laughs galore and prairie dog Romeo falling for grizzly bear Juliet. My six-year-old loved it, but not as much as I did, so it really is for all ages.
Neighborhood stalwart Andy Cross painted the entire set, continuing his many years of behind-the-scenes work on the festival’s Forest Park productions.
The 80-minute show is on tonight at 6:30 p.m. Tomorrow’s performance is sold out but tickets are available for Saturday (2 and 6:30 p.m.) and Sunday (noon and 4 p.m.). There’s plenty of free seating, with reserved seats starting at $20.
If high school buddies still rocking out together is more your thing, catch Big Head Todd and the Monsters Saturday at The Pageant. Formed in Colorado in 1986, the blues-rock band scored a ‘90s hit with “Bittersweet” and has been touring ever since. The show starts at 8 p.m.
