David, Fei and Feronia Powell are so proud to welcome Janet Lee Powell Junior to our home and neighborhood. Born February 28, she’s the best kid in the world (as they all are).

Please say hi when you see us out for a walk or gardening in the yard!

Fred Giraud, 89, a Parkview neighbor passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025. Fred was born in New Orleans, LA on July 5, 1935.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tulane University, a degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL and a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Texas Christian University.

He received his DMin in Pastoral Counseling from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO.

He served as a pastor in the Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, TX; Godfrey, IL; and Alton, IL and went on to have a lengthy career as a pastoral counselor with Care and Counseling in St. Louis and in private practice. Fred loved to work with his hands and got great joy from building and fixing things around the house and was quick to offer his advice or lend a hand on other people’s projects.

He enjoyed reading books about history, as well as mysteries.

He and his wife, Judith, were ardent travelers and over the course of their marriage visited approximately 20 countries around the world from Central America to China. Fred and Judith were residents of the Parkview for 42 years and upon retirement, Fred founded a newsletter for the neighborhood and led and managed its content for 15 years and it’s still going strong. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Judith, as well as 7 children, Steve Giraud (Laura), Russell Giraud (Vernetta), Bret Giraud (Darlene), Eric Giraud (Mary), Rick Stern (Katherine), Michele Oesch (Bob), Allison Kertz (John), as well as12 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

His family was a great joy to him. Fred will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, honesty and love of his family and neighbors.

He will be missed.
