Since 1921, Boy Scout Troop 98 has been at St. Roch Parish giving boys opportunities to go camping, hiking, and explore the outdoors.

This summer, from July 17 to July 23, Troop 98 spent the week at Camp Famous Eagle, at S bar F Scout Ranch.

A total of nine scouts attended camp, three of whom did the Ranger Program.

The Ranger Program is a high adventure style camp for older scouts who choose not to attend regular camp. Scouts in the program backpack through the wilderness of the scout ranch, setting up a new campsite every day.

This weeklong backpacking adventure helps older campers develop wilderness survival skills and prepare for future high adventure trips.

The six scouts who attended camp at Famous Eagle earned merit badges throughout the week, while participating in activities such as swimming, kayaking, rifle shooting, archery, and more. Two scouts attending camp from Troop 98 were inducted into the Order of the Arrow, which is basically the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts.

The troop, who camps locally almost every month, is looking into possibly camping outside the St. Louis Area Council next summer, as well as planning a high adventure trip for the summer of 2018.
