Forest ReLeaf is working with the SD Beautification Committee, the Dept of Parks and Forestry, and neighbors of Skinker DeBaliviere on a plan to plant a wonderful selection of trees in our Lucier Park, located at 5800 and 5900 DeGiverville.
We are working together to make a plan which will create a healthier, safer, and more beautiful park.
To help commemorate the SDCC 50th anniversary, our friends at Forest ReLeaf will provide 50 trees and shrubs which are native to Missouri.
The placement and arrangement of the canopy trees, understory trees, and shrubs will yield a healthy, beautiful park without decreasing eyes-on-the-park security.
This plan will, of course, be respectful of the full-size playing field in Lucier Park.
In addition to providing the cooling effect of shade in the summer, trees also provide wind-breaks in the winter, as well as shelter for birds, butterflies, and other attractive wildlife.
There are many other benefits as well.
We invite all neighbors of Skinker-DeBaliviere to join us as we plant the trees and shrubs on Saturday, October 15th. Watch for our upcoming flyer for the time of our event, and more details.
