On January 4, Brandon Sterling assumed the duties of executive director of the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council.
He was the unanimous choice of the search committee headed by Mary Pat O’Gorman. Sterling makes a strong positive first impression.
He is energetic and a fellow well met.
He has been working with previous director Liz Pund to familiarize himself with the neighborhood and the SDCC budget and activities.
He is already working on possible events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the council. Sterling notes that he grew up in University City and had friends here that he visited.
After applying for his new position, he toured the neighborhood to see how things had changed and found much improvement. Sterling previously worked for Guardian Angels as development director/fund raiser.
He expects to put his experience to good use here.
He also had his own fund raising firm and has worked for Better Family Life and Employment Connection as well as Urban Strategies. Sterling was particularly interested in our position because it would involve citizen engagement.
He hopes residents will drop by the office and say hello.
He wants to know what the community is thinking as we contemplate a 51st year of the council and beyond.
