Kids who live in Skinker-DeBaliviere are invited June 15 to take part in an art workshop that will result in the creation of a new mascot for the neighborhood. Working with professional artist Jenny Murphy, children aged 5 to 14 will create a large scale skink, or lizard, that will be displayed on top of the kiosk at the southeast corner of Kingsbury and Des Peres. Children will also get the chance to make their own animals out of recycled materials that they can take home.
The event is sponsored by Skinker-DeBaliviere Arts Council, formerly known as the West End Arts Council.
The event will take place at the 5949 Kingsbury Art Studio from 9 a.m. to noon June 15.
There is a limited number of spots at the workshop and it is filling up fast.
Call the SDCC office at (314) 862-5122 or email sdcc@skinkerdebaliviere.com for more information.
