New Gallery Show At Four Corners

Summer 2011

Historical Summer 2011 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

For several decades at least Four Corners (Kingsbury at Des Peres) has been the site of artists’ studios and art shows. Art Exposed introduced a number of people to our neighborhood circa 1990. Today, Andy Cross has had several shows at his studio on the northeast corner. Currently, an ambitious show opened May 7-8 at Ars Populi, 6010 Kingsbury, studio of Keith Spoeneman.

The show, “The Human Face,” features the work of over 100 artists and will be open to the public every weekend in June and July.

It is a show of the familiar — Christman’s work–but offers many new surprises as well. Spoeneman, joined by Greg Rhomberg and Bill Christman, organized this showing and brought new crowds to the area.

I particularly liked Spoeneman’s “Paterfamilias” and Hope Edwards’ portrait. About half the works featured are available for purchase. Just to be on the safe side, call 862-2541 if you plan to drop by.

The display of art has long been linked with revitalizing the neighborhood and the tradition continues.
