Another milestone has been passed for the venerable TIMES of SKINKER-DEBALIVIERE, the “oldest neighborhood newspaper in St. Louis.” Our long-time archivist Art Santen noticed this summer that we had published our 300th issue! Thanks to all the volunteers who deliver the paper door-to-door on nearly every block in the neighborhood. It’s a big job, but so many of you have considered it YOUR job, and it is greatly appreciated by all of us.
With this issue, we welcome students back to the neighorhood and say hello to new homeowners, with hopes they will come to know and appreciate the wonderful neighborhood they live in through the pages of our small newspaper.
It seems a good time to mention again that we have an online presence as well. You can reach our current issue and the entire 40 year archives by going online to www.stlouis.missouri.org/skinkerdebaliviere/ sd_times. We’re always recruiting volunteer writers, photographers, deliverers, and organizers. Contact us at jvatcha@gmail.com or Lana Stein at maxlana@sbcglobal.net or with “news of neighbors” to Rachel Boxdorfer at rboxdorfer@charter.net.
