Wondering what to do with that window sash needing a new cord or chain? Contemplating a restoration or home improvement job?

We have resources right here to make it easy for you.

This issue we feature 3 businesses that can help you (and hopefully more to follow). Earnest Riggins has operated Matriarch Home Repair & Remodeling for several years. You may have noticed his van on 6000 Kingsbury where he resides. Mr. Riggins does general home repair and improvement, including bath and kitchen work. Other work includes tile, drywall, framing, painting, plumbing and plastering.

He recently changed the name of his operation to Best Bid Home Repair to reflect his commitment to challenge other bids for work.

His new number with this venture is 314-920-5696.

Also visible in the neighborhood is Jon Dahl’s “The Carriage House Shop” whose card conveniently reads “home repair and improvements; no job too small.” Even more convenient is his website: www. carriagehouseshop.com.

His number is 314-863-4821.

Most of us are familiar with his lofty carriage house, one of the few East of Skinker (I’d have to brag that I can include mine too, although I barely make the cut!).

Also in this picture is Dan Lodholz of 5700 DeBaliviere who operates Re-Birth Development, “Sustainable Restoration.” Dan does home improvement and remodeling, with some jobs featuring his own cabinetry (he utilizes Amish manufacturers from Bowling Green when he does not do his own). Dan’s experience ranges from complete gut rehabs to concrete, tile, and hardwood floors, all with a view of sustainable and environmentally considerate work. Dan can be reached at 314-495-1386.
