Saturday, May 9, is our planting day and neighborhood plant exchange. Operation Brightside flowers are available to block captains who placed orders for flowers with Blitz area commanders Andy Cross and Darcell Braylock at the SDCC office, and are intended for planting in public areas. Our plant exchange takes place each year on this day at Greg Freeman Park at Four Corners at Kingsbury & Des Peres from 10 am to noon.
This is a good place to drop off the extra plants that are crowding your garden, or to look at what other folks have dropped off and see if there is something you want or need. You don’t have to make a swap, you can just drop off plants or pick up plants if you like.
We usually have drop-offs of irises, daylillies, ivy, coneflowers, etc. Wood chips for trees, lawns and other public planting areas are available on planting day, along with small packets of grass seed for bare patches in your lawn. Watch for our flyers for more information about Planting Day and Blitz Day’09.
