Friends Campaign Kicks Off

February–March 2008

Historical February–March 2008 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

2008 will be a landmark year for historic Skinker-DeBaliviere Neighborhood.

We will be celebrating the neighborhood’s 100th anniversary!

The Skinker-DeBaliviere Centennial Planning Committee has begun working to create a celebration and awareness of the creation and ongoing history of our neighborhood. Many neighbors remember a time when residents were fighting hard to keep our beautiful neighborhood from fading away.

There were vacant properties, yards were overgrown, and buildings were boarded up. Back in those times, the Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council was formed, and it is still going strong, more than 35 years later, hosting meetings, communicating with neighbors, organizing events, and securing our future.

The Community Council is one of the core reasons why our neighborhood has not only survived, but also thrived.

It is your support that makes our success possible. Businesses, organizations and neighbors all contribute to the success of the neighborhood in many ways, including tax-deductible gifts to the Friends of Skinker-DeBaliviere Campaign.

As a special incentive, neighbors who donate to the Friends Campaign at the $100 level or above will receive a set of gift cards with our historic Centennial Celebration logo.

These will be handy for contacting friends and family to invite them to the celebrations.

The notecards will be available for sale as well.

To contribute to the 2008 Friends of Skinker-DeBaliviere Campaign, send a check to SDCC Friends Campaign, 6008 Kingsbury, St. Louis, MO 63112.
