Historical February–March 2006 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.
In December, 2005, work began on the model units for the new condominiums at Rosedale and Washington. SDCHC sold the Rosedale Square Apartments to Rosedale Development LLC (Saaman/Rothschild partnership) for redevelopment into condominiums.
The sale and conversion of the apartments to condos meets our goals of; substantially improving the buildings and property, increasing owner occupancy and decreasing the density on the blocks.
In January, 2006, the SDCHC Board of Directors appointed Matthew Peters to the Board, filling the vacancy when Chris Manzo left the board. Matt lives on the 5900 Block of DeGiverville and is an accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Matt lived in the Nina Place condos and served on their Board before he and his spouse bought their first home on DeGiverville.
They have since completed a gut rehab on another house, the same block, before making that their current home. Other current board members are: President – Joseph Keaveny, Vice President – Richard Wilkes, Secretary – Harriett Hubbard, Sean McGroarty, Jennifer Olmstead, Stephen Kramer, and Karleen Hoerr.
Each SDCHC Board member brings personal and professional skills and training to the Board. Board members also serve on our Project Teams or Committees.
In addition to the Board members; we also use volunteers from the community to serve on the same Teams or Committees.
If you have an interest in possibly working with one of our Teams, Committees or serving on the Board; please contact Gary Boehnke by letter 6008 Kingsbury Blvd. 63112 or email gbsdchc@sbcglobal.net Last summer the Housing Corp was approached by Central West End Dog Parks Association asking if we would be open to letting them lease our lots on Des Peres (520-532) for a Dog Park in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood. CWEDP had been at a Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council meeting back in 2004 letting the neighborhood know that they were looking for a location (at that time they were looking at the lot on the northwest corner of Pershing and Des Peres) for a Dog Park in Skinker DeBaliviere.
We indicated our openness to the use.
The CWE Dog Park Association is currently working on many issues for a park at that location (e.g. working through St. Louis City Ordinance for dog parks, funding), before they make a final request for a lease to SDCHC. If/As CWEDP moves forward there will be a public meeting to inform and discuss any issues with the neighbors.
