Historical September–October 2005 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Lucky Georgie Fox of the 6100 block of McPherson recently returned from a trip to Scotland, where daughter Genny and her Scot husband James Malcolm just bought a home to return to the pastoral beauty of Scotland from busy Singapore where they live and work. Farewells: Jon and Sole Van Emden are moving to a condo on Buckingham in Clayton.

The family has been active in the Skinker-DeBaliviere community and friend to many during their time on Pershing, and we wish them well. Ken Cohen and Margie Brammeier, together with John and Jane Cross, hosted a lovely late summer party to say au revoir to their long-time neighbors Dan Shea and Kathleen Williams.

In attendance were relocated Kingsbury residents Cal and Gee Stuart and Ann and Jim McCarthy, as well as many other friends and neighbors from Kingsbury and beyond. Dan and Kathleen will be moving to the St. Regis Condos across from the Chase, so we expect to see them back often!

The happening block of 5900 block of Pershing welcomes: Corinna Treitel and Krister Knapp, both history professors, next door to our own Lana Stein, and Sean and Angie Meara, who have recently landed across the street. Angie works at UMSL Performing Arts Center, and husband Sean is a consultant. Welcome!

The 6100 block of McPherson is home to new neighbors John and Zellie McClellan, together with toddler Jack and baby Claire. Zellie is related to the Dunn family, longtime residents of Parkview. Congratulations to Jamie and Cari Allen on the July 19 birth of their baby James IV, or J.D., as he will be called.

The young family lives on the 6100 block of Westminster. Condolences to Mike Stahl, our longtime neighbor and faithful TIMES deliverer for many, many years on the 6100 block of Westminster, on the loss of his wife Sylvia. Before her illness, Sylvia had worked many years at the old Famous-Barr in Clayton, and spent some retirement years assisting at a daycare center.

The Stahls were early pioneers of the neighborhood since the 60’s.

We also learned of the passing of Flossie Driscoll, who, with her husband Frank, lived on the 6100 block of Washington.

The Driscolls were also in the typesetting/printing business together, and you rarely saw one without the other.

They had moved to the Coronado Apartments a few months previous. Congratulations to Dan and Monique Hudspeth of the 6000 block of McPherson on their beautiful June wedding, followed by a honeymoon in the Caribbean. Several neighbors, old friends, and family attended on a magical summer night at a totally idyllic river setting. Among those attending were Dan’s mother, former neighborhood resident Sue and Jim Kropp, sisters Christine, Mary Kay, and Jimmy, Dan’s twin, now residing in Arizona. Dan’s daughter Daisy was a poised and lovely maid of honor. New Business Neighbors: Integrity Design, a web design firm, has moved into the second floor office space renovated by the Shapiros at the former liquor store building at 6110 Delmar next to their Original Cast Lighting company.

The first floor retail space will be leased at a later date. Salvato’s Restaurant at 6227 Delmar has become Fabio’s, now owned and operated by Sam Bathani and family, who have had their Al Tarboush Deli at 602 Westgate for many years.

They will continue to operate both locations, and Fabio’s will begin serving Lebanese-style dinners in the future.
