Carriage rides, roasted chestnuts and gluhwin, along with a wide assortment of vendors, were just part of the festivities at this year’s Wintermarkt. Washington University sponsored three talented a capella student singing groups: the Greenleafs, the Mosaic Whispers, and the Pikers.

The St. Roch Bell Chimers hushed the crowd with a beautiful performance under the direction of Regina Morris. Thank you to the many neighbors who donated to the bake sale.

Also thank you to the many volunteers who helped work in the food booth, set-up, and worked other tasks in this big event. Thanks to the West End Word for their involvement. Thank you to Officer Rick Metz and the 7th District, as always, for their presence.

The Saint Louis GastHaus donated their popular German family recipe for ham and bean soup.

The Gast Haus is a newly opened restaurant located at 18th and Chouteau. Other culinary sponsors included Parker’s Table, 8137 Maryland, and Kayak’s Coffee at Skinker and Forest Park.

We are happy to provide a venue for many of our neighbors who sell their crafts, along with other vendors from near and far.

We are grateful for their participation.

We are also grateful to the students from St. Roch and area high schools who choose to fulfill their required service hours at the Wintermarkt. Wintermarkt is organized annually by the West End Arts Council, with a grant from the Regional Arts Commission. Funds raised by the Wintermarkt help produce this and other neighborhood events in Skinker-DeBaliviere.

The Wintermarkt or-ganizers include Katrina Stierholtz, Andy Cross, Shelly Goeble Parker, Michelle Pike, Rachel Boxdorfer, Ute Levi, and Laure Porterfield of the Skinker-DeBaliviere Community Council.
