This year’s celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday took place at Grace and Peace Church. Chaired by Liz Johnston, the event featured speaker Pastor Mikki Merritt of New Cote Brilliante Church of God, located at Skinker and Washington. Grace and Peace’s Reverend Kurt Lutjens led the service, which featured school children from nearby schools, who made presentations on the theme of diversity. Chairman Liz Johnston is a member of the council and the daughter of Jack Wright, one of the founders of this neighborhood tradition.
