On a Thursday evening over a month ago I was heading home going north on Skinker.
As I approached the new Wash U building, there was a pleasant surprise. Lights were on on the first floor and a bunch of young people were seated at various tables.
After all the anticipation, Kayak’s Coffee, our neighborhood coffee house was here. Subsequent forays by the building showed people always there – studying, drinking a latte, or eating.
The nice crowds are a good sign for this business. I’ve been in a couple times – to buy beans and to have lunch. At the latter visit, I had an excellent, fresh Greek salad.
The coffee beans have served me well but my best discovery lay in the dessert area. Kayak’s has wonderful macaroons, some with milk or dark chocolate.
I recommend them highly and hope the good business continues unabated. Welcome, Kayak’s. It’s good to have you close.
