MacroSun To Open On Delmar In May

Historical April–May 2003 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

In early May, MacroSun International – an importer of South Asian fashions, jewelry, home furnishings, and rare artifacts – will open at 6172 Delmar. MacroSun will occupy two storefronts in a historic building renovated by Joe Edwards. MacroSun had been located in the Central West End and Webster Groves.

It is closing these locations and, as of the beginning of May, will be found only on our extended Loop. Owner Gil Williams is very excited about the new facility and being part of the rejuvenation of Delmar.

He has already begun attending Commercial Committee meetings. MacroSun originally opened in 1991.

It is a regional hub of Asian culture and features clothing and jewelry from Nepal, Tibet, Bali, and India. Williams is active in the international fair trade movement.

His new company headquarters will have showrooms for interior design, jeweltoned fashions made in India out of vintage silk sari brocade, antique Asian textiles, fine hand-carved furniture, tapestries, masks and sculpture from Katmandu, Peshawar, Delhi, Ubud, and Saigon. Williams and MacroSun are planning a grand opening for May 10.

He would be happy for neighbors to stop by and learn more about this unique store.
