The citywide clean-up and beautification effort known as Operation Brightside will be held Saturday, April 5th, for the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood. Block Captains and other volunteers interested in assisting with this event are invited to a neighborhood meeting on Saturday, March 1st, 10:00 a.m. at the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council office, 6008 Kingsbury. Plans will be made and informational materials distributed. Problem areas will be identified and, with your input, strategies developed as to how we as a community might deal with them. Chairman Andy Cross pledges fine weather and lots of help for all, so let’s make sure his promise can be kept.

After last year’s rainout, we are determined to have plans in place to get the work done, no matter what the weather. Remember, this important clean-up effort can’t be done without your individual participation. Think about it, and schedule yourself to be one of our dedicated neighborhood volunteers. Flowers for planting in public areas will be available in early May. Their distribution will be coordinated with the annual Neighborhood plant exchange in Four Corners Park. Watch for details.
