Public Arts Project

September 2002

Beginning in September 2002, the West End Arts Council presents a new Community Art Project.

The project is based on a proposal from Susannah Biondo, a student in the Washington University ceramics department.

The project will create a large ceramic planter, to be fired on site in the McPherson Community Garden. Prior to the installation and firing of the central piece for the project, residents are invited to take part in a ceramics workshop to be held at Four Corners Park. Susannah will work with partici pants to create small vessels that will be fired along with the larger piece at the opening event.

All residents, of all ages, experienced or not, are invited to participate in this free workshop.

The Ceramics Workshop will be held Saturday, September 28th, at a time to be determined.

The firing will take place in the evening on Saturday, October 19th. Watch for fliers on both events for further details.

If you have any immediate questions, contact Michelle Pike, of the West End Arts Council, at 726- 4906.
