Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council Builds A Playground

April 2000

Historical April–May 2000 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

As this issue of the Times goes to press, final details are being arranged between various City agencies, the . Parks Department, and the Playground Committee of the Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council to permit the construction of the long-awaited Playground at Four Corners Park to proceed. Many hours of hard work have been contributed by Alderman Lyda Krewson, Director of Parks. Recreation and Forestry Dan McGuire, representatives of the Mayor’s office, committee chairman Katrina Stierholz, and others too numerous to mention to bring resolution to the impasse created by the President of the Board of Public Service’s decisions regarding the project’s implementation. BPS insisted that funds raised to date were to be turned over to the City to administer during the construction of this community initiated and community-supported project. Details of the agreement have not been completed, but construction should begin any day now on this much-anticipated neighborhood amenity.
