Grace UMC at the corner of Skinker and Waterman is organizing neighborhood and congregational seniors in an effort to develop meaningful activities. “After several weeks of internal discussions we are beginning to take action.
On September 11, 1997 a group of about seventeen of us are attending a workshop on Designing a Ministry By, With and For Mature Adults.
We are hopeful that this working session will add to our momentum in developing community based activities with persons of all ages and Denominations both in Skinker-DeBaliviere and the St. Louis area,” states Margaret Sonnenday long time Grace member. “Now that we have more time, we want to make a difference.
We here at Grace want to be a catalyst for bringing seniors together to do things that are fun, meaningful, and helpful to other seniors, to people of all ages including youth, to our community and metropolitan area.
This is not a Grace Church thing.
This is a people and service thing,” Sonnenday states. “1 must emphasize this is a work with initiative. What we decide to do we will do.
As envisioned this will be a senior designed, organized and run operation.
We encourage any and all interested to feel free to come to our planning sessions.” You can get involved by contacting John Thomas Breitmayer Community Coordinator at Grace Church 6199 Waterman St. Louis, MO 63112 863-1992, or better yet attend one of Grace UMC Sunday Services or study groups. Sunday service is held at 8:30 A.M. in the Chapel and 11:00 A.M. in the sanctuary. Sunday School for all age groups are held at 9:30 with a fellowship for college students.
