Free Breakfast At Grace

September 1997

Historical September 1997 article. Dates, prices, services and contacts describe the source period; current availability has not been established.

Grace United Methodist Church at the corner of Skinker and Waterman is going all out to make students feel WELCOME. Sundays at 9:30 a.m. the Congregation is inviting all students and their friends for FREE donuts, coffee and fellowship on the church plaza out doors for as long as the weather permits.

This College Student Fellowship time is offered to allow students to get to know each other, learn more about the community and get involved in wholesome church related activities. Hosted by several new Grace members who are students, the Student Fellowship hour precedes the regular Sunday service. “We hope that this format will be attractive to students.

If successful social, spiritual and volunteer activities will be an outgrowth of this initial outreach effort,” states Amy Murphy hostess, computer sciences major and recent Grace member. “Religion and fellowship are important in all our lives. “As students we sometimes loose touch with this away from home and under some pretty serious academic pressures.

This effort by our congregation is a great way to visibly remind us of the importance of faith in our lives.

I am very happy to be a part of this,” states Jaime Boero a host, medical resident and Grace member. Grace United Methodist holds two services on Sundays. Early Service is at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel with regular service at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Additionally, there are small groups, opportunities for volunteerism and a great facility available for creative students to use for a variety of activities. “At Grace All Are Welcome,” states Pastor Roger Wreath.
